I have paid a small amount for stuff in the two CSR Racing games. The cost of gold is outrageous in Real Racing so I refuse, but it's still possible to progress through the game without spending anything... it just takes quite a bit longer.

In Dota 2, the game that I've spent nearly $800 on, everything is cosmetic. If you don't spend a dime, you miss out on nothing game play related. Only hats.

$800? EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS?

Damn I felt bad when I put $60 into that shitty Clone Wars game SOE had.

It's over the span of around 3 years, but yeah. $800. This is why my life is sad.

Every time I play this my brakes fail and I crash.

I can't play it without the brake assists. I don't particularly like the way the physics work but I tolerate it enough because it's something car related that passes the time.

$800 over three years, I figure that's the equivalent of 4-5 regularly-priced Xbox or PS games a year. If you feel like you got that kind of enjoyment out of it (in place of buying 4-5 games in that span), I can't really hate on that.

Now talking specifically about the F2P game I posted, they recently released a series of Ferrari Formula 1 cars for the game. The top car is based on last year's F14-T and if you were to pay cash for the gold needed to buy the car it would cost more than $100. For one car. There's no way I can justify that.

Oh wow, most of the Dota transactions are small, the biggest being around $30. I don't know who would pay $100 on a single thing like that.

All the assists in the world don't make my brakes work consistently. They just slow me down a bit before I go off track or barrel into the car in front of me.

Yeah that's what blows my mind. I get asking $1, $2 and maybe $3 for something, but $100 just pisses me off. Even some regularly-priced games are starting to do that shit with built-in micro transactions. They set the in-game cost of cars really high so that people who aren't patient will pay $25 for X-amount of in-game cash just to buy that particular car. I just don't get it.

If the brake assists are set to low, they corners have to be pretty tight for them to trigger. It won't brake on gentle curves even through you usually need to and it definitely doesn't brake when you're about to hit another car.

Now if it's doing that with brake assists set on high, I'm not sure what to say. The high level is kind of obnoxious because it slows you down way more than necessary.

I can do it with the assists off, my button just doesn't respond when i hit it, or it works for a second then speeds back up again. I can keep pounding the screen and it won't slow down, on any assist level. You only need one shard corner to ruin a race and wreck a car.

I see. That's weird. Do you use the auto throttle or do you control it yourself?

Auto throttle, no other aids if I can. Sometimes I hit the brakes and it slows a bit and keeps going, sometimes it slows down then they quit on me. Infuriating.

Yeah I think your issue is because of the auto throttle. I used to play with auto throttle but I started to prefer having more control of what was happening. The "auto" tends to be more like "full speed ahead" regardless of the situation rather than being smart about it.
